Lonely Hollyhocks

Poetic response to "the sound of hollyhocks" by Hugh Garner

I wake up accidentally
walking through my balcony
I see a bunch of hollyhocks grow quietly beside the wall
which reminds me an old friend
He likes talking alone to the hollyhocks
as if he can get the answers from the flowers
He's always in silence
He has suffered abandon and betrayal
Under his mother's domination but couldn't escape
Even he has a cute outlook
but always, his face is cover by sorrow
He uses a belt to end his painful life as result
which makes me feel guilty in the rest of my life
I know whatever I've done could change nothing that happens already
a life is long gone from the world
The only thing that I can do now
is when facing those lonely hollyhocks
with full heart of remorse and apology to say
My dear friend, I'm sorry.
